Temperature relaxation and the Kapitza-boundary-resistance paradox.
The calculation of the Kapitza boundary resistance between dissimilar harmonic solids has since long (Little [Can. J. Phys. 37, 334 (1959)]) suffered from a paradox: this resistance erroneously tends to a finite value in the limit of identical solids. We resolve this paradox by calculating temperature differences in the final heat-transporting state, rather than with respect to the initial stat...
متن کاملEffect of melatonin on the isolated heart in the standard perfusion conditions and in the conditions of calcium paradox.
UNLABELLED The effect of melatonin (MLT) on the isolated rat heart was studied using the standard perfusion conditions (Langendorff preparation) and model of calcium paradox (Ca(2+)-paradox). Ca(2+)-paradox was induced by 1 minute perfusion with Ca(2+)-free Krebs-Henseleit (KH) solution and subsequent 20 minutes perfusion with a normal Ca(2+)-containing KH solution. In MLT group, MLT (10 microm...
متن کاملSimultaneous Human Segmentation, Depth and Pose Estimation via Dual Decomposition
The tasks of stereo matching, segmentation, and human pose estimation have been popular in computer vision in recent years, but attempts to combine the three tasks have so far resulted in compromises: either using infra-red cameras, or a greatly simplified body model. We propose a framework for estimating a detailed human skeleton in 3D from a stereo pair of images. Within this framework, we de...
متن کاملStudy of Optical Models Regarding the Human Eye
Introduction: Until now, many models have been presented for optical study of the human eye. In recent years, surgery on the anterior section of the eye (such as cataract and photo-refractive surgery) has increased, so a study on the optics of the eye and evaluation of vision quality has become more important. Material and Methods: In this article, some of these models are considered. They incl...
متن کامل3D Hand Motion Evaluation Using HMM
Gesture and motion recognition are needed for a variety of applications. The use of human hand motions as a natural interface tool has motivated researchers to conduct research in the modeling, analysis and recognition of various hand movements. In particular, human-computer intelligent interaction has been a focus of research in vision-based gesture recognition. In this work, we introduce a 3-...
